Laura Richards discusses 39-year-old French TV and film producer Sophie Toscan Du Plantier’s brutal murder with actor, director, producer, author and true crime aficionada Alison Sweeney.
On the morning of December 23 1996, Sophie’s body was found by her neighbour, Shirley Foster, at the bottom of the driveway to her holiday home in Schull, West Cork, Ireland
Laura starts this new series answering Alison’s questions about the case. We discuss the victimology, how Sophie was framed in the media and by others, the sequence of events the night that Sophie was murdered and so much more.
Many of the questions that Laura answers are the same ones that you have too if you have listened to the podcast ‘West Cork’, watched the three-part Netflix show ‘Sophie: A Murder in West Cork’ and/or the five-part Sky docuseries, ‘Murder at the Cottage: A Search for Justice for Sophie’ directed by Jim Sheridan.
This is a deeply troubling case that remains unsolved to this day. Sophie and her family deserve justice.
